- In 2016, there was 436,748 total number of car accidents in Texas cities and towns.
- There was 72,100 total number of car accident fatalities and injuries in urban areas.
- 76.29% of accidents occurred in urban areas.
- 410 motorcyclists were killed in 2019 and 45% were not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
- 256,338 people were injured in motor vehicle collisions in 2019.
- There were 12,897 severe crashes resulting in serious injury in 2019. 15,843 of these people sustained a serious injury.

- Houston had 12.8% of total collisions in the state; 15.39% of these total crashes occurred in towns and cities.
- San Antonio had 8.37% of total crashes; 10.57% of the crashes happened in towns and cities.
- Dallas had 6.42% of total crashes; 8.11% of the total crashes occurred in towns and cities.
- El Paso had 3.11% of total collisions; 3.93% of these crashes happened in towns and cities.
- Fort Worth had 2.98% total crashes; 3.76% of these collisions occurred in towns and cities.

Houston has the highest reported accidents in Texas at a rate of 67,241.
There were 245 fatalities and 1,304 incapacitating injury collisions than any other city in the state of Texas.
Dallas is by far the largest speeding related fatalities in Texas.
- 97 total number of people were killed in speeding crashes.
- Dallas County has the highest number of work zone collision deaths in the state.

- 886 people were killed in 2019 in motor vehicle crashes where the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
- In 2019 more DUI crashes were reported between 2:00 am and 2:59 am than any other hour of the day. Most of these collisions occurred on Saturday.
- 987 people were killed in drunk driving accidents.
- 26% of those people were killed in motor vehicle crashes.
